A collaboration between a young emerging star in Minnesota architecture, a veteran sauna designer and builder of 30 years, and the creative home owner, the three have come together to design what some are already calling “the most awesome sauna in North America.”
Taking some creative and practical elements from the $100,000 sauna, we have this 250 square feet plan:
Of note: This design takes into account some key sauna design elements including:
- Hot Room: The sizing is inspired by and comparable to saunaseura #2, in Helsinki, Finland, considered by sauna pros to be the most optimally designed hot room for personal use.
- Cool Down: Given the climate in Minnesota, a proper cool down zone is critically important for good sauna. This sauna offers ample temperate zone for between hot room sessions.
- Outdoor Space: Generous decking and deck surround provide the sauna bather fresh air space, in Nature, accentuating the relaxation component to good sauna. Incremental second floor vistas will provide sauna bathers superior vistas and relaxation.
